2. Anti-Virus Viruses will cause havoc on your machine and may even destroy the hard drive. A good anti-virus package will protect you when you down load files from the Internet or send and receive emails. Norton and McAfee are the two most popular available. AVG is a good, free, alternative.

3. Anti-Spam Spam has become a massive problem for most email users. Before long, your email can be file with unwanted emails. Some email packages will attempt to block spam automatically. If yours doesnt, you can invest in a 3rd Party anti-spam solution. Just be sure to check your spam filter occasionally just in case some legitimate email ends up there.

4. Anti-Spyware Spyware is nasty as it collects information from you without your consent. Always use a trusted Anti Spyware solution like Norton or McAfee.

5. Use strong passwords Passwords can be easy to hack if you are not careful. Do not use anything that someone else can guess, like your date of birth or your spouses name. Use something that only you will remember and include a number to make it even more difficult to hack.
